Tonbridge Angels Football Club sponsor the West Kent Schools Football League for Secondary schools.

The 2007-2008 finals take place at Longmead Stadium on Wednesday 7th May 2008.

We are pleased to announce that the finalists in the George Cohen Shield are:

9.30 - Year 10 - Hayesbrook vs Hugh Christie

11.30 - Year 9 - St Gregory vs Hayesbrook

14.00 - Year 8 - Hayesbrook vs Wildernesse

16.15 - Year 7 - Hayesbrook vs St Gregory

On 2nd May 2007 over 150 players and teachers gathered at Tonbridge Angel's stadium for the finals of the West Kent Schools Football League. This competition for years 7, 8, 9, and 10 had been entered by eight of the local secondary schools. Over the winter they had been playing each other with the top teams earning the right to play in the final.

The tournament takes the name of a local sporting hero, world cup winner George Cohen and was sponsored by Tonbridge Angels. Nick Wing, Chairman of Angel’s youth section said 'We are very grateful to George for allowing us to use his name for the trophies as there can be no better role model for young people. It was also fitting that his Grandson took part today. This has been a tremendous success not only for the finals day but the positive interest that has been created throughout the year.' Wing added 'the finals witnessed today reinforced the high standards in the area and were played with great skill, effort and sportsmanship.'
