Tonbridge Angels 1-0 Orpington Rovers

The U9 Blues avenged their opening game of the season loss to Orpington Rovers with a first round cup win. As in their previous meeting, the teams were closely matched and produced a highly entertaining and exciting game. During the course of normal time, both teams had chances to score but it remained goal-less, with Man of the Match, Sam Hayward pulling off several first class saves in the Angels goal. The Angels were the stronger side in extra time, with Guy Osborne having a fine shot pushed onto the post by the opposing keeper. Angels pushed for the winner in the closing minutes with a succession of corners. It looked like heading for a penalty shoot out, when with twenty seconds remaining on the clock, the ball was half cleared by Rovers. Tommy George latched on to the loose ball and thundered a shot high into the roof of the net from distance. A superb team performance from the ever improving Angels.

Tonbridge Angels 2-5 Redhill United

The Angels competed well against table-topping Redhill United, in another exciting and enjoyable match. Redhill started the game well, playing swift pass and move football, and took a two goal lead before Tom Stevens scored to give the Angels renewed hope. Both sides had further chances to score in the first half, but Sam Hayward produced another fine performance in goal and was ably assisted at the back by Man of the Match, Guy Osborne, who produced a very assured defensive display. Oliver Ricketts scored a goal shortly after the restart, which lead to a period of pressure, where the Angels could and should have scored more goals. Redhill scored three more goals on the break to give them the win and a slightly flattering final scoreline. The Angels should take heart from this display against a very strong and well organised Redhill team.

Tonbridge Angels 3-13 Warlingham Colts

A disappointing performance from the Angels against a strong Warlingham team, who play in the division above the Angels. Angels playing well below their best were no match for a rampant Warlingham, who played some excellent one touch football and looked in control most of the game. The first half ended with the Angels 5-1 down with Callum Taylor scoring a great individual goal. The second half followed the same pattern as the first with Warlingham in control. The final score being Angels 3 - Warlingham 13. The Angels second half goals coming from Brandon Anderson and Jacob Wilkins. Another fine display in goal earned Sam Hayward the Man of the Match award.

Hamsey Rangers 5-3 Tonbridge Angels

A mixed display from the Angels against a competent Hamsey Rangers side. Angels, playing well at the beginning of the match, took a 2-0 lead with goals from Tom Stevens and a brilliant header from Callum Taylor, from a corner. The Angels then seemed to stop playing the good football they had been playing and started to make silly mistakes, which led to Hamsey taking the lead just before half time. Hamsey extended their lead in the second half before Brandon Anderson scored to make it 4-3. The Angels were denied a penalty before Hamsey settled the game with a final goal to win the game 5-3. Another fine display of skill and commitment earned Oliver Ricketts the Man of the Match award.

A very much improved Angels performance against a physical but fair Croydon Juniors. Angels started the game well with some good passing, which led to the opening goal from Oliver Ricketts, with a great strike. The Angels then conceded two goals and went in at half time 2-1 down. The Angels started the second half as they started the first half which, again led to Man of the Match, Oliver Ricketts claiming his second goal to bring the scores level. With a great performance from our defence and the midfield working hard, the Angels got their reward with Brandon Anderson slotting home to make the score 3-2. The boys then went on and scored their fourth goal with more good passing and a composed finish from Tom Stevens, making the final score 4-2, which the Angels thoroughly deserved.

Tonbridge Angels 4-2 Chipstead

A fine team performance from the Angels against a competitive Chipstead team (who also play in division B) in the first round of the League Shield. They took the lead after 15 minutes through Guy Osborne, with a trademark long range shot; Brandon Anderson doubled the lead, following some fine work by Oliver Ricketts. Chipstead's goal post came to the rescue as Man of the Match, Jacob Wilkins almost scored a deserved goal. Shortly after the restart, Chipstead pulled a goal back before a superb strike from Brandon Anderson extended the Angels lead. With the Angels looking for more goals, they were caught out and Chipstead scored a well worked goal but there was still time for Tom Stevens to secure the win with his sixth goal of the season. Junior Sports United 1-4 Tonbridge Angels

A superb team performance, in difficult conditions, from the Angels against a higher placed Junior Sports United. Playing their best football this season, the Angels had the perfect balance of individual skill and team play. They were unfortunate to fall behind after six minutes following a goal mouth scramble. The equaliser followed quickly with a super passing move creating the opportunity for Tom Stevens. A few minutes later Brandon Anderson slotted home from a Guy Osborne corner to give the Angels the lead. With the Angels now passing the ball confidently and working hard to create space, debutant Lucas Murrain extended their lead further. The second half was harder for the Angels as they were playing uphill into the driving rain. Oliver Ricketts, Callum Taylor and Tommy George all worked tirelessly for the team and despite long periods of inactivity, Sam Hayward produced fine saves when required. The Angels had several opportunities to score but it was not until the last five minutes that Man of the Match, Tom Stevens scored the final goal of the game. A fantastic performance that the boys should be proud of.

Chipstead 1-1 Tonbridge Angels

The Angels' first game of 2008 was a closely fought match, with both teams creating chances. The Angels showed glimpses of their best pass and move football, but never got into their stride. Chipstead took the lead fairly early in the first half, following a goal mouth scramble. Both goalkeepers impressed, with a number of fine saves during the match. The equaliser came just before half time during a period of sustained pressure when, Man of the Match, Callum Taylor burst through the Chipstead defence and fired low past the advancing keeper. The second half saw both teams pushing for victory but neither could find the killer second goal, despite creating chances. Afewee Urban 0-1 Tonbridge Angels

A magnificent team performance from the Angels, away to the previously unbeaten Afewee Urban. New Beckenham 1-4 Tonbridge Angels

A solid team performance from the Angels in very windy conditions, away to a tenacious New Beckenham. Playing into a strong wind the Angels opened the scoring through Oliver Ricketts, whose long range shot proved too hot to handle for the New Beckenham keeper. However, showing true fighting spirit New Beckenham levelled the scores straight from the restart. A compelling match lay in the balance at half time. The Angels with the wind at their backs proved to be the much stronger team and again showed glimpses of their controlled passing football. Oliver Ricketts added a second goal midway through the half, before Brandon Anderson slotted home. With a few minutes remaining Oliver Ricketts netted again for his hat trick. There were solid performances from Callum Taylor and Lucas Murrain in midfield, and Guy Osborne in defence but the Man of the Match honours were shared between Oliver Ricketts and Tommy George, who produced a great defensive display.

A great team performance from the Angels saw them win this exciting League Shield quarter final against Hamsey Rangers A, who beat the Angels in their previous league meeting. Tonbridge Angels 1-1 Hamsey Rangers A

A solid team performance from the Angels, who dominated the game but failed to finish off their chances. Despite creating several further chances, the Angels could not find the killer second goal. The second half followed the pattern of the first with the home team on top for long periods. Whenever Hamsey did threaten, Man of the Match, Oliver Ricketts was quick to react and was ably assisted at the back by Tommy George.
