Angels
U15 squad filled in for the Tonbridge U16N team to fulfil this fixture.
It turned out to be an exciting game of the proverbial two halves
on a fantastic spring day. Angels started strongly and after an
early Ed Sharman chance, Jack Leeson went on a mazy run past several
defenders to score in the 11th minute. Tonbridge continued to press
and from a corner, Sam Wing had a header cleared off of the goal
line. After Rusthall had their first chance when a header went wide
Jack Parks had two shots which the goal keeper saved well. Then
Parks pounced on the ball as Rusthall failed to clear to score Angels
second from close range. Rusthall clearly with instruction at halftime
to make their extra age count showed their intent after one minute
and scored from close in. Angels continued to play and two shots
just went wide from Jack Funnell. Tonbridge were unlucky when Brett
Milham hit the post after a Jack Leeson cross as he broke the offside
trap. The half wore on and the younger Angels players started to
tire. Rusthall created opportunities that caused Joe Cullip in the
Angels goal to make two great saves. With nine minutes to go Rusthall
equalised but Tonbridge still searched for a winner through a header
from Sharman and a cross from Gregory Keddy that just eluded the
on rushing forwards. Rusthall eventually scored on the break with
a minute to go but credit must go to a gutsy performance from the
Angels youngsters.
