Tonbridge Angels  0 - 3  Corinthians

The match today was played at our second home pitch, Bredhurst Nursery. Long term injuries are already weakening the squad and we started the match with 12 boys.

The first half was fairly even with both sides not threatening either goalkeepers and the half time score of 0-0 was a fair reflection of the game. However within ten minutes of the start of the second half TAFC found themselves 2–0 down when first their centre forward scored with a wicked deflection over Nicks head and then their right winger crossed from the right and again their centre forward scored from two yards out.

TAFC however never gave up and despite having several corners and free kicks; Corinthian defended their lines very well. It was from one of our corners that Corinthian scored on the break when the winger scored after beating Gary and Nick to the ball.

In truth it was never a “3-0”scoreline but we need to strengthen our squad very soon if we are to remain competitive.

Bromley 4 - 1  Tonbridge Angels

Challenge Cup - Round 2

Kick off was delayed for 30 minutes as the Referee was delayed in a traffic accident but Bromley were soon in their stride when they scored after just two minutes. A corner was floated over and the tall Bromley midfield player powered in a header from six yards. This early setback knocked TAFC and for the rest of the first half could not get their passing game going and it was no surprise when Bromley increased their lead just before half time, Again the tall Bromley midfield player latched onto a through ball and calmly lifted the ball over Nick’s body.

The half time pep talk from the management did not have the desired effect as straight from the kick off Bromley pushed forward and were awarded a penalty when their centre forward was upended in the box.

Although 3-0 down the spirit of the boys was first class and pulled a goal back when John Stevens scored with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

However Bromley restored their 3 goal advantage when neat interpassing down the left wing resulted in their centre forward scoring from ten yards.

In the end TAFC were beaten by the better team and we wish them luck in the next round of the cup.

Goal Scorers:
  John Stevens
