Tonbridge Angels  2 - 0  Bearsted

With our centre forward missing the start of the match, TAFC took to the field with only 12 men as George Crimmen had been selected to play for the Kent FA side and John Stevens was out with a knee injury.

On a very tacky, sticky pitch the first half was fairly even with Nick our goalkeeper pulling off an exceptional save to deny the opposition, being the highlight of the half.

After 10 minutes of the second half Nathan Tchie replaced Zack Richardson and our new signing Dan Daly replaced Tom Perryment.

TAFC went in front when after some neat inter passing between our midfield Dan Knights scored with a low shot into the corner of the net. This goal seemed to inspire TAFC and from a resulting Bearsted corner the ball was played out very quickly from the back for Dan Daly to run onto powerfully from midfield to hammer home past their keeper.

For the last 15 minutes Bearsted threw everything at TAFC but our keeper and defence held firm. In the end a well deserved victory.

Finally I must congratulate our referee, Louise Saunders, on refereeing the game very well.

Goal Scorers:  Dan Knights and Dan Daly

Dartford 2 - 2  Tonbridge Angels

(Lost 4-1 penalties)

Kent County F.A. Youth Cup - Round 2

The two TAFC u16 teams combined today for the second round of the Kent Cup. With only one and a half hours of training for the two teams it was always going to be difficult to get used to names, positions, formations, etc. However, under the guidance of Ian Grieves TAFC started very brightly and could have taken the lead on a couple of occasions, especially when Rhys hit the post. Unfortunately, Dartford took the lead at the end of the first half when their right back floated in a free kick and their forward crept in behind the defence and nodded the ball home.

The start of the second half saw the Angels pull forward and could have equalised within the first minute. It did not seem to be our day when Nathan Tchie hit the crossbar from 20 yards. However, TAFC equalised when Jim Bergin ran onto a through ball and put the ball into the net.

Extra time saw both sides pushing forward and Dartford increased their lead yet again when another free kick led to their forward again heading the ball into the net. With only ten minutes remaining, the Angels deservedly scored an equaliser when Jack Brivio slotted home from 10 yards.

Score after extra time 2-2.

The game was decided by penalties which Dartford won 4-1. In conclusion, although we lost this game, we can see that from the way the players played today their attitude, commitment and style of play was first class.

The future is very bright.

Goal Scorers:  Jim Bergin and Jack Brivio

Corinthians 3 - 0  Tonbridge Angels

To put simply this game was an exact carbon copy of the previous game against Corinthian a few weeks earlier.

Today’s line up included players that did not play in last Sundays Kent Cup game against Dartford . Kicking down the slope in the first half TAFC had a couple of chances to go in at half time in the lead. We were also indebted to our keeper Nick for pulling off a couple of fine saves but the half time score of 0-0 was probably a true reflection of the game.

However as like earlier in the season Corinthian scored with two early goals at the start of the second half and finally clinched the game with 15 minutes to go when their centre forward headed in from close range.

The game unfortunately ended on a sour note when one of their forwards was sent off for a tackle on our full back.

Our next two games are again very important to the team.

VCD Athletic  3 - 1  Tonbridge Angels

Sickness to two players meant we were down to 13 players for this match. Kicking up the slope in the first half TAFC found themselves a goal down early on and for the first half hour were lacking in the skills of passing the ball to each other. However has half time approached TAFC began to find their rhythm and equalised when Jack Brivio pounced on a through ball from Nathan Tchie and slotted home from 10 yards. TAFC might have gone in front when Jacks shot was cleared off their line by one of their defenders.

With the slope in our favour in the second half TAFC were full of enthusiasm but it was VCD who were calling all the shots and took the lead when the ball was not cleared from a free kick. VCD increased their lead with a few minutes to go when their forward rounded our keeper and slotted from the edge of the box.

Goal Scorers:  Jack Brivio
