With the
news that our goalkeeper had injured himself on Saturday we did
not enter the game with high expectations after losing to VCD in
late November. However
with Liam Baker playing in goal in the first half and playing up
the slope, it was TAFC who came racing out of the blocks and deservedly
took an early 2 goal lead.
From a
corner Gary scored with a side footed volley from five yards and
Dan scored with a rasping 20 yard strike from the edge of the box.
To be honest TAFC should have increased the lead even further but
VCD came back very strongly towards the end of the first half and
Liam was asked to produce two first class saves.
The half
time tea talk seemed to have the desired effect on TAFC with Dan
replacing Liam in goal and TAFC scoring twice early in the second
half. First Jack scored after a mix up the visitors defence and
poking the ball home from 15 yards and then straight away Jack had
a shot that came off the crossbar
and rebounded to Nathan for him to place into an empty net.
To their credit VCD did not give up but Liam finished the match
in style with a shot from inside the box.
The score line probably reflects an easy game but it was far from
easy as VCD were a competitive team. Full marks to all our players
- it was good to keep a clean sheet and for 5 individuals to score,
a true team effort.
