Today’s
match was played on our reserve pitch at Bredhurst Nursery. Kicking
against the wind in the first half TAFC were soon ahead when Liam
Baker seized on a half chance and scored from the edge of the penalty
area. This galvanised H & B and with the wind at their backs
were pressing forward in numbers but TAFC defence and Keeper held
firm. It was from a Holland & Blair attack that TAFC won the
ball in defence and launched a very quick counter attack with Jim
Bergin sweeping the ball into an empty net from 10 yards.
At this
stage tackles were flying in and Liam Baker was given a red card
for a two footed tackle.
At the
end of the first half it was H & B who were pressing forward
in numbers and they reduced the arrears with a header from a corner.
Half Time
2-1
Playing
a 4-4-1 formation in the second half, it now appeared that TAFC
were playing the football and deservedly went further ahead when
George Crimmen scored with a rasping 30 yard drive.
Although H & B had the extra man, the TAFC defence held firm
for the rest of the game and a hard fought victory.

Kicking
up the slope in the first half,TAFC had the better of the exchanges
at the start of the half but towards the end of the half Maidstone
began to dominate and should have been two goals up but were prevented
by two excellent saves by our keeper Nick Browning.
HT 0-0
Playing
down the slope in the second half TAFC however found themselves
a goal down after just 30 seconds when Maidstone scored with a shot
from 30 yards.
TAFC recovered
from this set back when Jim Bergin equalised soon after with a shot
from the edge of the area and went in front after a scramble in
the goalmouth and Nathan Tchie prodded the ball home from a couple
of yards.
TAFC went
further in front when Liam Baker was fouled on the edge of the penalty
area and from the resulting free kick George Crimmen rose to head
the ball over the keeper into the net.
Final
score 3-1 but TAFC were not at the races
and were indebted to their victory by the performance of Nick in
goal.

TAFC entered this game with 15 players after the signing
of Rob Thomas from Chatham Town, kicking up the slope in the first
half a 0-0 score line at half time was probably a true reflection
of the first half with not many chances at either end.
However, TAFC were soon into gear in the second half and after some
exchanges in the penalty area it was Rob Thomas who opened the scoring
with a header from a couple of yards. TAFC were soon 2-0 up when
Jim Bergin running from midfield slotted the ball home from 20 yards.
TAFC were now in their stride and Jordan Gallagher scored the goal
of the match when half volleying the ball into the net from the
edge of the penalty area.
After a series of TAFC substitutions Maidstone pulled one goal back
when a cross from the wing was headed on by their centre forward
and beat our keeper from six yards.
Final score 3-1
