Thamesmead
Town 2 - 2 Tonbridge
Angels
Angel’s
U15 travelled to Thamesmead Town missing four of the squad. It took
around fifteen minutes for Angels to settle but they started to
create several chances through Ed Sharman, Matt Green and Brett
Milham. However it was debutant Ben Alldis who broke the deadlock
as good work from Jack Leeson and Mikey Foreman allowed him to drill
the ball into the right hand corner of the net. Angels continued
to dominate but a lack of concentration allowed Thamesmead to equalise
on the stroke of halftime. In the second half Tonbridge again played
neat football and got their reward when Sharman coolly finished
11 minutes in. Angels did not look in trouble and created several
good chances. However another loss of concentration meant that Thamesmead
again equalised, this time with the very last kick. Final score
2 v 2.

Tonbridge
Angels 3 - 2 Bromley
With
all but one player available the Angel’s U15 squad looked strong
and in the main dominated last year’s runners up. With four minutes
on the clock Brett Milham was up ended and goalkeeper Lewis Carey
converted the penalty. For the next 25 minutes Angels had the better
of the play but a mix up in defence allowed Bromley to pull level.
Angels lost their way and a lack of concentration allowed the visitors
to take the lead into halftime. Four minutes into the second half
a strong run by Jack Leeson released Ben Alldis who found the corner
of the net. Angels continued to create chances through Sharman and
eventually got their reward. After a spell of pressure the ball
lobbed out towards the penalty spot and Sharman volleyed leaving
the Bromley goalkeeper with no chance. Well done to all the squad.
Every person played their part in this victory. One footnote, unfortunately
one of the Bromley players broke two ribs when the ball struck him.
We wish him a speedy recovery.

Cray
Wanderers 0 - 3
Tonbridge Angels
An
already depleted squad and playing with four others not 100% may
have been the reason why Angels turned in their least impressive
performance of the season so far. Against a top side Angels might
have been punished however overall to not play well and win comfortably,
is a good sign. The game was two minutes old when a Jack Leeson
ball resulted in a cross from Mikey Foreman which Ed Sharman converted
from close in. After Cray hit the post it was Sharman’s turn to
rattle the woodwork as Angels could not quite make their superiority
pay. It wasn’t until the 34th minute that Tonbridge had another
meaningful chance when Leeson forced a finger tip save from the
Cray keeper. In the second period Angels got an early wake up call
when two Cray chances went begging. But within five minutes Tonbridge
doubled their lead as Milham and Foreman combined. The cross sweetly
met by the head of Gregory Keddy. Angels looked more assured and
when Milham went on a run he cut back inside and riffled a shot
into the corner. Next week Tonbridge are in cup action against Welling.
This will be the stiffest test to date and a barometer to see if
they can compete with the best.

Welling
United 5 - 3 Tonbridge
Angels
Challenge
Cup Round 1
This
cup game was end to end excitement and was made more difficult by
a strong wind. Angels kicking against the wind in the first half
struggled to get going and found themselves behind in the eleventh
minute. Tonbridge hit straight back when a Charlie Slocombe cross
went over the goalkeeper in to the net. A good run and cross from
Ed Sharman allowed Mikey Foreman to finish from close range putting
Angels in to the lead. However five minutes before half time an
unstoppable shot helped on by the wind provided the equaliser for
Welling. Early on in the second period Jack Leeson hit the bar for
Angels. However 10 minutes later Welling took the lead through a
penalty. Angels pressed and eventually got their reward 10 minutes
from the end when a Leeson throw found Sharman whose cross was met
by Foreman to draw the game level again. Both teams played three
up front to try and force a result and just as everybody was getting
ready for extra time a cruel deflected shot gave Lewis Carey no
chance in the Angels goal. The final goal followed quickly to seal
the result but Angels can be confident from seeing the new improved
Welling when they meet in the league fixtures.

Angels 3 - 0 VCD
Athletic
This
was a top versus third encounter with both sides unbeaten in the
league. Angels started brightly and Ed Sharman broke through after
3 minutes forcing a good save. But within two minutes Angels were
one up when a Mikey Foreman and Sharman combination created an opening
that Sharman finished from close range. Angels generally maintained
control for the remainder of the half however the only real chance
was a Jack Leeson header tipped over by the goalkeeper. Ben Alldis
came on at half time and immediately made an impact when he released
Foreman. Foreman’s first shot hit the post but he made no mistake
with the second. After another ten minutes Alldis hit a rasping
drive just over the cross bar. By midway through the half Angels
were three up when after good work on the left by Sharman he sent
a pin point cross to Foreman who made no mistake. Matt Green was
making a nuisance of himself and had a chance to extend the lead
but it would not quite fall for him. Tonbridge just started to loose
concentration at the end but overall this was an excellent performance
by every member of the fifteen man squad and sets them nicely for
the winter ahead.

Scorers: Mikey Foreman - 2 and Ed
Sharman - 1
