Tonbridge Angels 3
- 0 Tunbridge Wells
This
fixture played at Angel’s stadium was a credit to both sides. Angels
started the stronger and could have scored inside the first 30 seconds.
It took the Wells a little while to settle but they started to compete
as the half wore on. Tonbridge found the Wells keeper, Daniel Flint,
in fine form as he made saves from Gregory Keddy, Ed Sharman, and
Mikey Foreman. Angel’s first goal came from a Sharman corner which
Jack Parks rose to meet and put it over the line. Into the second
half and the Wells keeper again made a fine save this time from
Matt Green. Further saves were made from Foreman and Jack Leeson.
Then with 16 minutes of the second period gone a Foreman curler
from just inside the box extended the Tonbridge lead. Four minutes
later a kick from Lewis Carey in the Angel’s goal found Sharman
who lashed the ball home. To Well’s credit they kept going and for
Angels this result cemented their title challenge.

Corinthians 0
- 0 Tonbridge Angels
Angel’s
maintained their position at the top of the Kent Youth League with
this fourth consecutive clean sheet. Corinthian lying third proved
to be difficult to unpick however you could not fault the effort
by all the Angels players. Tonbridge started well and had a Matt
Green shot saved. Although Angel’s were pressing a defensive mistake
almost let Corinthian in. On 21 minutes Angels had a decent penalty
appeal turned down before a Mikey Foreman through ball released
Eddie Sharman who just shot over. Into the second half and Angels
got an early wake up call as a Corinthian forward hit the side netting.
Tonbridge started to control the game again and Foreman long distance
strike just went over. Another strong penalty appeal was turned
down before a Charlie Slocombe cross was nearly converted by Sharman.
Despite being down to 12 fit players Angels battled hard and deserved
at least a point. Credit should go to the whole squad for their
commitment; Lewis Carey, Mark Simcox, Jack Parks, Charlie Slocombe,
George Benner, Gregory Keddy, Ed Sharman, Josh Thorneycroft, Alex
Wellbelove, Mikey Foreman, Matt Green, Jack Funnell. |

Bredhurst Juniors 1
- 3 Tonbridge Angels
Kent
Cup - Round 1
On a wet and windy day on a small uneven pitch and with other factors
this was one of those games that was not that enjoyable. However
it was about getting the result and moving into the next round of
the Kent Cup, which the team did with the right attitude. It was
never going to be easy and after a couple of Mikey Foreman chances
went close, a Lewis Carey throw out, a neat interchange between
Ed Sharman and Gregory Keddy, resulted in a cross to Foreman who
finished from 8 yards out. Then just on half time Ed Sharman pounced
on a goal keeping error to double Angels lead. In the second period
Jack Leeson had a good effort just wide before Bredhurst were awarded
a penalty. Carey only just failed to keep it out. It was not long
before Tonbridge were back on the offensive as Sharman forced a
save from the Bredhurst keeper. With 15 minutes to go a cool finish
from Foreman extended the lead and there was time for an Alex Wellbelove
effort to be ruled out for off side after he pounced on a ball played
by the defender. A good job done and another away tie in November
to look forward too.
Goal Scorers:
Mikey Foreman - 2 and Ed Sharman - 1
