Welling United 2 - 1  Tonbridge Angels

On a day where conditions were very difficult no one could fault the efforts of the players on a muddy pitch. Angels kicked against a strong wind in the first half and scored after three minutes when a Jack Leeson cross found Mikey Foreman who made no mistake. The wind was influencing the play and Angels struggled to get out of their half. However when they did they attacked with pace and Alex Wellbelove shaved the post. In the 27th minute Welling broke quickly and equalised with an accurate strike. Angels had the wind in the second half on a deteriorating pitch and just shaded the better chances through Foreman and Jack Funnell. Tonbridge looked to have taken the lead with 15 minutes to go but a Matt Green shot rebounded off the post. Five minutes later a Welling forward chased down a ball and just managed to lob Lewis Carey in the Tonbridge goal to give them the lead. Try as they might Angels could not find the net and went on to loose a game they deserved a lot more from.

Goal Scorers: Mikey Foreman

Tonbridge Angels 6 - 1  Thamesmead Town

The frost almost put paid to this match but Angels took full advantage to go back to the top of the Kent Youth League. Whilst Angels had the better of the opening period it took 20 minutes to break the deadlock as Matt Green drove through the defence to give Jack Leeson an easy finish. On 30 minutes another Green run resulted in a good strike finding the net. One minute later a Jack Funnell free kick was spilled by the visitor’s goalkeeper and Mikey Foreman was on hand to score Angel’s third. Further chances came and when Green was upended Lewis Carey stepped up to riffle home the penalty. In the second half the pitch became sticky and more difficult to move the ball however it took only four minutes for Tonbridge to score when a Funnell cross was cleanly met by the head of Brett Milham. Both Foreman and Milham had shots saved then with 15 minutes to go Leeson crossed for Funnell to net Angel’s sixth. With only a minute to go Thamesmead got a consolation goal however this did not spoil a comprehensive Angel’s victory.

Goal Scorers: Jack Leeson, Matt Green, Lewis Carey, Mikey Foreman, Jack Funnell, Brett Milham
