Meopham Colts 0
- 4 Tonbridge Angels
Tesco Youth
Cup - 2nd Round
A comfortable
win for the Angels in the 2nd round of the Tesco Cup against a game
Meopham side. A great ball from Green saw Hillier open the scoring
with an unstoppable dipping shot after 6 minutes. A beautifully
waited, cross field ball by Ricketts was met with a powerful shot
from Tudor-Pole which the keeper could only palm out for Hillier
to tap in for his 2nd of the match. With the back line in total
control the midfield was brilliantly marshalled by “Man of the Match”
Jones who not only snuffed out any attacks from Meopham but was
the cornerstone of the Angels offence. A snappy interchange between
Ricketts and Green led to Green scoring with a long range shot.
Credit must be give to Meopham for not letting their heads drop
with their keeper saving numerous chances in a very one-sided 2nd
half. The Angels rounded off the scoring after a corner by Leek
was calmly finished by Keens. Ricketts, Green and Jones were the
catalyst for a performance that propels the Angels into the next
round.
Goal Scorers: Henry Hillier
- 2, David Green - 1 and Jack
Keens - 1
Man of
the Match: Sam Jones - Allround outstanding
performance.

Tonbridge Angels 7
- 2 Tunbridge Wells
A straight-forward
win for the Angels who were just too good in all areas against a
game Tunbridge Wells side. An unfortunate own-goal after two minutes
put Tonbridge ahead and though the score was levelled after ten
minuntes by a tremendous free-kick, the Angels never looked in trouble.
A solid display by the back line with Healy and Greenstock shining,
coupled with a "Man of the Match" performance by Leek
was the spring board for the blues to launch attack after attack.
Tuder-pole scored the next two goals, one from a through ball which
was finished with great composure and then a fantastic finish from
the edge of the box. Leek opened the scoring in the 2nd half with
an unstoppable rising shot. Wells were continually caught cold by
through balls giving Murrain and Keens one on ones with the keeper
which they duly dispatched. Though Wells finished the stronger in
the last ten minutes and got a consolation second, the result was
never in doubt. The whole squad contributed in this comfortable
win for the Angels.
Goal Scorers: Jeremy Tudor-Pole
- 2, Jackson Murrain - 2, Tom Leek
- 1 and Jack Keens - 1
Man of
the Match: Tom Leek - Skillful creative
wing play and strong in the tackle.

Tonbridge Angels 6
- 3 Phoenix Sports
The third meeting
between these two sides this season produced the same outcome as
before. With the Angels starting fast and on the front foot Phoenix
were pushed back from the off. A pressing midfield superbly marshalled
by Jones gave the opposition little chance of getting out of their
own half. This pressure was rewarded with a corner that their keeper
could not hold and was tapped in by Skillen. That seemed to signal
a collective switching off by the blues which allowed weak opponents
to not only look good but pen the angels in, leading to a pinball
like goal to be conceded. When the boys pressed and got there passing
going there were some fantastic interchanges with Leek, Ricketts
and “Man of the Match” Allen shining. Murrain’s now trademark ‘run
onto a through ball’ gave the angels back the lead but again a failure
to dominate there own area at a set play saw the score’s levelled.
A shoulder to shoulder race with the last defender saw Murrain add
his second before the break. Another consistent, skillfull and powerful
display by Allen saw him rewarded with a fantastic goal after some
of the best one touch passing in the game. The withdrawal of Jones
from midfield and standing off, again let Phoenix back in with yet
another uncleared corner. Keens settled the outcome and any nerves
by coolly finishing off a rebounding shot. Allen wrapped up the
scoring in a performance that, when it was good it was great to
watch.
Goal Scorers: Conor Skillen
- 1, Jackson Murrain- 2, Jack Keens
- 1 and George Allen - 2
Man of
the Match: George Allen - A combination
of drive and creativity.
