Corinthains 4
- 3 Tonbridge Angels
The
match started with the Angels on the back foot and after 5 minutes
Corinthians scored a cross from the goal line which curled off the
post.
Everything then turned around, Murrain having powerful runs and
"Men of the Match" Green and Allen started to dominate
the midfield. After 7 minutes Murrain had a shot which beat
the keeper bringing the scores level.
The Angels continued to hold their own with some great work from
all the defenders and after 20 minutes Murrain scored his 2nd putting
Angels in the lead, 2-1. The Angels continued to pressure the Corinthians
defence and just before the half time whistle a fantastic shot from
Ricketts nearly increased the Angels lead.
The second half started with tremendous pressure from Corinthians,
but the Angels remained resolute with great defensive work and Keeper
Shimmin’s excellent handling.
After 12 minutes a penalty was awarded to Corinthians for handball,
scored bringing the teams level. Corinthians continued to put the
Angels defence under pressure and then after 25 minutes Corinthians
took the lead. 3-2.
Angels came battling back and after 30 minutes Allen scored an equaliser
from a corner 3-3. Sadly there was to be a sting in the tail as
Corinthians scored a 4th after 32 minutes. Angels tried to come
back but time was against them, score at final whistle 4-3 to Corinthians.
All the team played with fantastic commitment, and they should be
proud of themselves for a great effort.
