Wickham Wanderers 1-1 Tonbridge Angels
Missing three key players and with two others who were feeling decidedly off-colour, the Angels did well to survive a second half bombardment from Wickham Wanderers. The heavy rain, strong wind and sloping pitch made this game one without much flowing football. The first half went to the Angels, with a fine strike from George Hayward relishing his left midfield role, giving them the lead after 23 mins. Daniel Gilby threatened down the right as well, with the Angels playing the ball out well wide, but finding no luck down the middle, although Chris Lambert went close a couple of times. Timothy Faes did a great holding role in midfield, keeping Wickham's free play to a minimum. The second half was a different story and as Wickham attacked consistently, Man of the Match, Rory Keens in goal made a string of great saves in 1 on 1 situations. However, just when it looked as if the Angels may hold out, the strong defence was breached with only five minutes to go, as Wickham scored with a top corner shot after the Angels failed to clear. A fair result in the end.
